After graduating from Yerevan State Medical Institute he worked as the head of the surgery department in Central hospital of the region of Aparan, RA, later senior surgeon in the Emergency Hospital of Yerevan.
In 1982 he defended candidate degree in Novosibirsk.
From 1984 to 1988 – doctorate of the All-Union Centre of Surgery of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR,Moscow.
In 1988 he defended a Phd thesis: “Reconstructive and repairing operations in uncompleted esophagoplasty and diseases of artificial esophagus” in All-Union Centre of Surgery of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR,Moscow.
From 1989 up to now –professor, head of Chair of General and Thoracic Surgery of National Institute of Health and later Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heraci.
From 2003- Director of Medical Centre of Surgery (Yerevan)
From 2010- Chairman of licensing commission on surgery, urology, traumatology and anaesthesiology of Yerevan State Medical University.
Member of editorial board of the journal”Herald of Surgery of Armenia”,”Medical Science of Armenia’ and other scientific medical editions.
From 1998 to 2005- General Surgeon-in-Chief, Ministry of Health, Republic of Armenia
From 1995 to 2007-GeneralSurgeon-in-ChiefofCityofYerevan, Armenia.
From 1998-Academic of Academy Medico-Technical Sciences of Russia Federation.

Author of over 200 articles in scientific medical journals of Armenia, Russia,other countries of Russia and Europe, 3 monographs, 1 atlas, 2 patents for the inventions, 10 innovative suggestions,4 methodics.
Scientific supervisor of 5 Phd and 11 candidate theses.
