The clinic is the base for YSMU Department of Clinical Allergology and is the republican center of Clinical Allergology and Immunology.

History

The significance of immunology is hard to overestimate in the modern stage of medicine development. There is not any aspect in the medicine which either directly or indirectly is not related to the sustainable and simultaneously flexible immune system. The immune system disorders are in particular in a leading position in the creation and development process of all allergies. This has been the base for the creation of immunology and allergology course in the YSMU which was established in 1990 in the base of the «Scientific-Research Institute of Surgery» by Professor S. Gambarov, MD.

The course started its activity from lecturing to the students of general medicine and pediatrics faculties. Professor Gambarov later initiated the creation of a scientific laboratory.

In 1995 the Clinic of «Clinical Immunology and Allergology was established in the university 1st clinical base, and in 1998 the course was re-established as a department as a result of which the subject became mandatory also for students from stomotological, military-medical and for pharmaceutical faculties. Three doctoral and more than twenty PhD theses have been defended in the faculty

The Center for Clinical Immunology and Allergology» implements:

24-hour preliminary registration of patients

Consultations by different specialists on allergological and immunological multifunctional and total pathology (immunodiagnostics)

Medical treatment of allergic diseases, including all types of urticaria, allergic dermatitis, angioedema, allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, medicinal allergies, exudative erythema multiforme, Steven Johnson syndrome, lyell's syndrome, food and insect allergies, etc. Parallel to the medical treatment new methods are also applied in the Clinic such as specific immunotherapy together with immunostimulation.

Training program on bronchial asthma is conducted in the clinic, which considerably increases the efficiency of the control over the disease course.

Patients with other disorders and diseases of immune system are as well examined. Such patients undergo immunoprophylaxis, immunorehabilitation, and immunotherapy. According to clinical guidelines, cytokine and anticytokine therapy has been recently implemented in patients' treatment.

The Clinic also provides professional support the RA doctors and other departments.

 

Cooperation

 The Clinic cooperates with the state scientific center of the Immunology Institute of Russian Federation and with the Mikayelyan Institute of Surgery. The specialists of the Clinic take part in international conferences and summits and do reporting
