From 2020 to the present, he has been working in a polyclinic of the University Hospital Complex “Muratsan”of the YSMU as a generalist, performing the functions of a narrow specialist in gastroenterology, rheumatology, nephrology and pulmonology.

Aleksandr Ayvazyan has more than 250 published scientific works, the vast majority of which are devoted to the study of familial Mediterranean fever (FMF),which about 4% of Armenians have. He proved that in Armenia the phenotype II occurs in approximately 10% of cases of FMF, that the risk of amyloidosis does not decrease with age, but the frequency of attacks of FMF are decreased with age, and with agethese attacks are inhibited easier with colchicine therapy. A.Ayvazyan described a number of atypical clinical manifestations of FMF. He recommends that during the course of life one should never reduce the dosages of colchicine, and that the drug should be given to patients in a dosage that at a young age completely prevents the attacks of the disease, reduces and gradually eliminates articular syndrome and other complications, keeping inflammatory parameters within the norm (ESR, C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, protein SAA). He suggests that all Armenians, regardless of their complaints, check the mutations of the MEFV gene responsible for FMF. Treatment of patients with FMFon the basis of these and other recommendations of A.Aivazyan allows in each case of FMF to save 10-20 years of life in addition to the years that are saved based on the principles of therapy ellaborated by Israeli scientists.
