Education

1960 he graduated from YSMI, therapetica faculty

 

Medical practice

Since 1962 he began his scientific - practica: work as clinical intern in the Scientific -Research Institute of Roentgenology and Oncology, HM of RA

Since 1975 he is the head of general oncology department

1981-2001 he worked as the deputy director on science in Scientific Center of Oncology. HM of RA

Since 1994 he is the head of oncology chair in NIH after academician C.Avdalbekyan, HM of RA

Since 1999 he was the chairman of Academic Counsil in the SCO, HM of RA.

Since 2001 he was the chairman of Specialized Academic Council on oncology and medical radiology

2002 he was appointed the director of SCO, HM of RA. He was the first in the USSR who introduced preoperative large fractional irradiation of malignant tumours in treatment practice of oncological patients.

Since 2002 he became the chairman of the Republican Expert Commission on financing the scientific themes from the State budget; national consultant of IAAE; the main oncologist of HM of RA

Since 2004 he was elected an honourable chairman of Armenian Association of oncologists; honourable chairman of Association of radiologists and radiactive oncologists

 

Social Activity

He is an author of 312 published scientific works, including 6 monographies and manuals, over 20 methodical recommendations and rationalized proposals, copyright certificates

 

Memberships

1981-1991 he was a member of SM Council presidium of HM of RA, the vice-chairman of SM Council of HM of RA

Since 1994 he was a member of the SM Council of the National Institute of Health, HM of RA

Since 1995 he was a member of Specialized Council on surgery in YSMU

Since 1997 he was a member of AMS (Yerevan)

1998 he was elected an honorary academician of International Academic Union ( New York ), the full member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences

2000 he was elected the corresponding member of NAS of RA

Since 2000 he is a member of SMC of Medical Genetic Center of NAS of RA

 

Awards

1999 he was awarded with silver medal after i. Pavlov "For the development of medicine and public health services". The same year he was awarded with governmental medal after M. Heratsi

Since 1997 he was awarded with the gold medal and diploma "Person of 1997" of American Biographical Institute

 

Description

Since 1967 he supported the master's thesis, anc in 1975 the doctor's thesis on "Some questions of diagnostics and treatment of cancer in the large intestine distal parts" and received the scientific degree of the doctor of medical sciences
